University of Delaware student from Medway hit, killed by truck

GLASGOW, Del. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 19-year-old from Medway died Friday morning after being hit by a truck in Delaware.

The University of Delaware announced Ethan Connolly, a sophomore at the school, was hit by a pickup truck while crossing Route 896 in Glasgow, Del. with another student at about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

The university extended their condolences to the teen's family in a statement Friday afternoon.

"On behalf of the University community, I would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Connolly's family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Bernstein, his family and friends. We are all deeply saddened by this tragic event and the loss of a member of our community," said Dawn Thompson, interim vice president for student life.

Connolly was enrolled in the school's College of Arts and Sciences.

Daniel Bernstein, 18, from New York City, sustained non-life threatening injuries. Bernstein is a freshman at the university.

Delaware State Police say the men were hit by a Ford Ranger traveling on the northbound side of the road. The crash is under investigation.
