DARTMOUTH, Mass. — UMass Dartmouth has decided against allowing CBS Films to shoot the Boston Marathon movie on campus.
CBS Films requested to film scenes for the Boston Marathon bombing movie "Patriots Day" on campus. Convicted marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev attended UMass Dartmouth while planning the terrorist attack. Several of his friends from UMass Dartmouth have been convicted for related crimes.
Acting Chancellor Gerry Kavanaugh said the possibility was discussed with students, staff faculty and university stakeholders.
"We have concluded that the production activities would be too disruptive to our campus community. We are hopeful that the movie does justice to the many courageous victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy and their families, as well as the public safety officers who demonstrated such selfless dedication to their duty," said Kavanaugh in the statement.
Watertown has also said no to CBS Films as well.
