BOSTON — There are a variety of ride sharing apps available now, but Uber just created a deal hoping to set itself apart from the competition.
UberPOOL is an option for riders who want to save money. It cuts their bill in half because the driver will pick up another rider along the way to split the costs.
Now Uber has released POOL passes.
A rider can buy a monthly POOL pass at a flat rate. Either $40 for 20 uberPOOL rides or $75 for 40 uberPOOL rides.
After the pass is purchased, riders will only be charged one cent for every ride on the pass.
And when the price of the pass is factored in, rides will only cost around $2-- no matter the distance-- as long as the duration of the ride stays within the POOL pass coverage zone.
The coverage area spans across the major neighborhoods and towns surrounding Boston.
