MEDFORD, Mass. — Two University of Massachusetts Boston students will be receiving a $5,000 scholarship on Saturday that honors Krystle Campbell, a Boston Marathon bombing victim.
Eden Blakeley of Boston and Leona Smith of Revere will be given the scholarships by UMass Boston Chancellor J. Keith Motley at a ceremony in Campbell’s Medford hometown. The scholarship is given to UMass students who are pursuing business degrees like Campbell.
Campbell was a restaurant manager who received a posthumous degree since attending UMass-Boston from 2005 to 2007.
Medford Mayor Stephanie Burke and Campbell’s family are expected to be at the ceremony. Also in attendance will be the 2017 Krystle Campbell Scholarship Fund Marathon Team.
The fund has raised $680,000 in cash toward its $1 million goal.
