Men accused in shooting of 8-year-old are child's father, uncle

BOSTON — Two men charged in connection to the shooting of an 8-year-old girl and another person in Dorchester faced a judge Monday.

Police arrested 28-year-old Ian King and 31-year-old Nathas Jacquecine Friday. Boston 25 News has learned from DA Rachael Rollins that Jacquecine is the girl's father and King is her uncle.

Investigators say they fired the gunshots that wounded the 8-year-old and a man who were enjoying the Fourth of July festivities at Mary Hannon Park earlier this month.

Prosecutors say the 35-year-old man they allegedly shot is paralyzed.

The judge ordered both men held on $30,000 bail. They're due back in court next month.

Boston Police Commissioner William Gross spoke about that girl and the recent violence in the city while announcing news of the arrests Friday.
