Willy Wonka origin story: Timothée Chalamet to don candyman’s top hat

Oompa Loompa doompety doo ... This time it’s Timothée Chalamet who will do.

The actor known for his roles in “Lady Bird” and “Little Women,” as well as his role in the upcoming “Dune” film, has now been tapped to put on the top hat of Willy Wonka, Deadline reported.

HuffPost reported he beat out Tom Holland for the role.

Chalamet is taking over in the role first made famous by Gene Wilder and then Johnny Depp in the collaboration between Warner Bros. and Roald Dahl Story Co.’s “Wonka.”

It is the origin story of the imaginative candymaker before he sets up his factory.

There will be music in the prequel that will be directed by Paul King.

The first film, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” was made in 1971 starring Wilder as Wonka.

Depp’s take was released in 2005 under the name “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”

Chalamet has also been tapped to play Bob Dylan in “Going Electric” when Dylan switched from acoustic to electric guitar, HuffPost reported.
