LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — High school senior Bella Rasmussen is the first girl in California to score two touchdowns in a football game.

The 17-year-old Laguna High School running back scored two touchdowns before halftime on Friday against Santa Ana Godinez Fundamental High School, according to KTLA.

Eight girls have scored touchdowns in California varsity games, but Rasmussen is the first to do it twice in one game, the station reported.

“When it happened the second time, I was just like ‘double the awesome.’ It was incredible! But I didn’t find out until later that night that I had actually made state history,” Rasmussen told KNBC.

Laguna High beat Santa Anna 48-0.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Rasmussen’s coach, John Shanahan, said she’s a resilient team member.

“She’s a football player, she really is. Anytime we want someone to run against the first defense, she steps in. She takes a beating, never whines, never gets hurt. She’s a really tough kid,” Shanahan told the Times.

After making state history, Rasmussen was invited by the Los Angeles Rams in their matchup with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, according to Today.
