Creamery starts ‘kindness cooler’ to provide milk to those who can’t afford it during coronavirus shutdown

COLUMBUS, Wis. — A creamery in Wisconsin is giving back to the community.

Sassy Cow Creamery owners James Baerwolf and Robert Baerwolf have started the “Kindness Cooler,” CNN reported.

Anyone who needs milk can go to the creamery to pick some up. The brothers said the refrigerator will be kept full until the end of the coronavirus pandemic.

It doesn’t only contain milk, it also has other dairy products that the community may need, WMTV reported.

But the brothers didn’t have the idea. James Baerwolf said his daughters were trying to do something for the community and it was their idea, CNN reported.

Dairy farmers are dumping gallons of milk because it is illegal to donate or sell milk that isn’t pasteurized.

Sassy Cow Creamery pasteurizes the milk at the farm, CNN reported.

The creamery is also allowed to operate under Wisconsin’s “Safer at Home” order. The business supplies local grocery stores and businesses, the Columbus Journal reported.
