JUPITER, Fla. — Two paddle boarders recorded their friendly encounter with two manatees off the Florida coast.
One of the paddle boarders, Celine Chasteen, said to our news partners at WPTV that the manatees swam underneath their boards, rolled onto their backs and then put their flippers up on the board.
In the video you can see Chasteen laughing and her face in shock as the manatees approach her board.
Chasteen described it as “the craziest thing ever," according to WPTV.
Manatees are a protected species. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers said look, but don't touch.
