KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — If only the dog could tell of its travels.
Oreo was taken from Gatlinburg in 2011 but was returned to her family, thanks to a microchip embedded in her skin, WJHL reported.
Officials at the Knox County Sheriff's Office posted the happy reunion to Facebook.
According to the post, the dog was taken more than eight years ago. Oreo's owner thought she would never see her pet again, but that all changed when some good Samaritans found Oreo, law enforcement officials said in the post.
An animal control officer in Knox County, scanned a microchip the owner had implanted into Oreo, and it contained the owner's contact information, WJHL reported.
