'Instant house party' organized on Snapchat ends with several partygoers shot

HOUSTON — A house party in Houston came to an end after a fight broke out and seven people were shot, police said.

It happened early Saturday morning at what is being called an "instant house party" that was organized on Snapchat, KHOU reported.

Police said random people got the party invitation on the social media app.

In all, there were between 30 and 50 teens and adults, KHOU reported.

Police said several attendees started arguing and people started shooting at each other, KTRK reported.

Three people were wounded at the home.

Some of the attendees left the party and were followed by a group in a van. Police said the people in the van shot at the car, wounding three, KHOU reported.

A seventh person was shot in the hand and went to a hospital.

None of the gunshot wounds were life-threatening, KTRK reported.

A man who lives near the house where the party was held said it's normally quiet but shootings are not that unusual in the neighborhood. He told KHOU that he found four bullet holes in his house from the weekend gunfire.
