PEABODY, Mass. — A Peabody day care has been shut down for the day due to a Department of Children and Families investigation.
A woman was driving on Lowell Street in Peabody Friday morning when she saw a toddler wandering in the street. The woman jumped out of her car, grabbed the 2-year-old girl and brought her to a nearby gas station where they called 911.
Police say the toddler wandered away from the Watch-A-Tot day care center Friday morning.

The day care was shut down for the day so DCF could investigate the incident.
DCF sent Boston 25 News a brief statement saying, "The Department of Children and Families received a report and is investigating."
