HINGHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A remorseful thief turned himself in Thursday after seeing his case on the FOX 25 News Wednesday night.
Fifty-year-old Michael Allen of Dorchester was seen on surveillance using a woman's lost or stolen ATM card at six different machines within 20 minutes, police say. After seeing his case featured on FOX 25, Allen turned himself in.
"He brought with him $1,500 in cash. He gave a full admission. Yes he found the card. Yes he used the pin. He was watching the news at 10 o'clock on FOX 25 and recognized his face, knew he was going to be caught. Did the right thing and turned himself in,"Sgt. Steven Dearth said.
Hingham police also reported that Allen is a crime files fan as he watched the newscast Saturday night to see if our Bob Ward had included his case in the Mass. Most Wanted segment.
Allen is out on bail and is due in court Friday morning.
