PEPPERELL, Mass. — A 13-year-old boy was hit by a car on Sunday night in Pepperell, according to a release from the town's police department.
The boy, who was riding his bike when he was allegedly struck by a Chevrolet Malibu sedan, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer by members of Pepperell Fire before being flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Pepperell PD with the assistance of the Mass. State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.

The driver of the car involved stayed on scene and cooperated with police. Law enforcement identified the driver as a 62-year-old Pepperell man.
The boy was wearing his helmet during the time of the crash, officials say.
