CHELSEA, Mass. — A taxi driver sustained minor injuries after he crashed his car after being robbed by his passengers, police said.

Chelsea Police said the driver had picked up two people in the Bellingham Square area of the city at around 7:30 p.m.

The driver was then instructed to go to Essex Street, where he was robbed by the two passengers. During the robbery, the suspects attacked the driver, causing him to hit parked cars in the area of 149 Essex Street.

While the driver sustained injuries to the head, officials say they are considered non-life threatening.

Police describe the suspects as being in their late teens or early 20s, but the driver was unable to provide a physical description of them.

Both suspects fled the scene on foot, but police say it's unknown if they took any money with them.

Chelsea Police are actively investigating the incident.
