Sutton home goes up in flames, pets perish in the fire

SUTTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Four dogs perished in a Monday night fire that heavily damaged a home.

Police say the call came in shortly after 8:30 p.m. First responders noticed flames through the roof and rear of the building and the fire quickly reached three alarms. Officials say it took an hour to bring the fire under control. No firefighters or civilians were injured.

Officials say the homeowners had been in the process of moving out, and that their son had been living in a camper on the property.

The scene cleared out at about 3:30 a.m.

Authorities called the home "a total loss" and the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshals office.
