Suspect sought in pair of violent Jamaica Plain robberies

BOSTON — Boston Police need the public's help finding a man they believe robbed two different people in Jamaica Plain. Both robbery victims were hit in the head before their wallets were stolen, officials say.

Police believe they caught a glimpse of a suspect on a security camera.

"It's kind of scary because I feel like the area's been getting better and better, so it stinks to kind of take a step backwards like that," said Chris Cardarelli, a neighbor.

Boston Police are looking for the man who violently robbed two people on two different days along South Huntington Ave. in Jamaica Plain. Police say the suspect struck the victims in the head and then ripped their back pockets to steal their wallets.

"I mean it seems like this area over down here is maybe a little bit more sketchy than other parts of the city," said Elijah Mena, a neighbor.

Police released surveillance video of a person of interest, hoping someone knows who it is. One of the robberies was on October 22 while the other was on Saturday, October 26.

"Definitely now I'm scared of walking alone around here," said Kathy Quilca, a Boston resident. "Sometimes it's super dark around here, so it's kind of scary."

Police say one of the robbery victims even had to go to the hospital after being injured in the attack. Now neighbors are on high alert as the search for the suspect continues.

"It's certainly very concerning, and I would be a lot more vigilant when I come home at night and maybe not wear my headphones and just stay cautious, I guess," Mena said.

If anyone has any information on these robberies, they are asked to call Boston Police. And they could always remain anonymous.
