GREENVILLE, S.C. — Police were called to an Upstate South Carolina high school early Friday morning after they said a student was shot.
Greenville County Schools said the shooting was accidental.

The student is conscious and with school officials, according to the release.
According to WSOC's sister station WLOS, the shooting happened inside the school cafeteria.

Nearby schools were placed on lockdown while the incident was investigated. By late Friday morning, students at Southside High School were being dismissed for the day.
