WEST NEWTON, Mass. — The suspect accused of stabbing a complete stranger in the head outside a West Newton CVS Tuesday is headed to court.
Chad Michael Kirby, 36, of Quincy, was arrested after police said he stabbed a 53-year-old man in the head.
The unidentified victim was able to run into the CVS, where he told employees he had been stabbed.
“When I saw him, he was sitting and they were putting paper towels on his head, you know, head wounds bleed a lot,” CVS employee Beth Hunter said.
Hunter said undercover officers ran through the store and captured Kirby before he was able to escape.
“I know the guy who was the aggressor had been in here earlier in the day,” Akira Douglas, an employee at a nearby coffee shop, said. “It goes to show you, wherever you are, anything can happen.”
The incident occurred in a busy area of West Newton and police said they are looking into whether the incident was captured on any surveillance cameras.
Kirby was charged with assault and battery and assault with intent to murder, and he’s due in court on Wednesday.
