Store clerk held at gunpoint in Manchester, NH

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Surveillance cameras inside the Z1 Express Gas Station and Convenience Store captured a frightening scene Tuesday night; a clerk pinned at gunpoint by a masked robber.

It was shortly before closing and the clerk was washing the floors near the entrance. The intruder came in, gun fully drawn and directed the clerk back to the area behind the counter.

He ordered her to open the cash register and as she huddled in a corner, he grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash and took off.

"It's a good part of the neighborhood for the most part. I live pretty close and we don't typically have a lot of stuff that happens, that I know of," said customer Heath Searles.

But convenience stores are not uncommon targets for robberies in the U.S. The FBI's most recent crime statistics put the number of convenience store robberies in 2016 at more than 17,000.

Fortunately in this case, the clerk was not injured.

Police say all they have for a suspect description is a short, thin man, about 5'7" tall.

If you know anything about this robbery, call Manchester police.
