Signs that summer is around the corner can start with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy (AWSC) after they started deploying acoustic receivers along Cape Cod Bay and the Outer Cape Thursday morning.
These bright yellow receivers are used to track Great White Sharks along the Cape for the summer season.
To date, there have been 179 receivers deployed and over 200 individual sharks tagged.
The remaining receivers will be installed in the coming weeks while the AWSC works with their collaborators.
In 2021, the first shark spotted down the Cape was on May 23.
