Special Olympics Massachusetts plans third annual 'Over the Edge' fundraiser

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com)— Over 130 people will once again rappel 22-stories down the side of the Hyatt Regency to raise money for the Special Olympics Massachusetts this weekend.

Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA) is hosting their fundraising event Over the Edge at the Hyatt Regency from Friday to Saturday, a press release stated. SOMA, an organization that provides sports training and competitions for Special Olympics athletes, has raised over $430,000 for over 12,000 Special Olympics athletes since the fundraiser started in 2011.

Participants will be rappelling 200 feet down the side of the hotel. Each participant has to raise a minimum of $1,000 in order to partake in the event.

SOMA is looking to surpass last year's fundraising goal. So far they have raise over $159,000.
