MANSFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A small plane went off the runway Saturday at Mansfield Airport.
At about 9:39 a.m., a student pilot practicing landings in a 2003 Cessna C-172S flew in too low, about 180 yards from the landing area, officials say. The planes' wheels hit a snow bank and caused damage to the right side landing gear. The gear snapped, which caused the plane to lean on its right wing tip. The plane then went into a controlled skid off the runway.
The pilot was not injured. The incident caused $45,000 in damage to the plane.
