Rockport-bound train hits, kills man on tracks near Gloucester line

GLOUCESTER, Mass. — A Rockport-bound Commuter Rail train was stopped in Gloucester after hit hit a person on the tracks Monday morning.

Transit Police announced a person was hit around 9 a.m. past the Gloucester Commuter Rail stop.

Police and responders say they found a man who was pronounced dead on scene near the Route 128 overpass bridge by the Rockport and Gloucester line.

Transit police detectives say they are investigating the death, but don't suspect foul play.

The Rockport Train 107, which departed North Station at 10:35 a.m., terminated at Gloucester station and passengers were put on shuttles between Gloucester and Rockport outbound.

The man killed in the incident has not yet been identified.
