ROCHESTER, NH (MyFoxBoston.com) -- School officials in Rochester said they are working on new drug education and prevention guidelines in the wake of the death of a 17-year-old student who overdosed on fentanyl.
Thursday, police announced they arrested three people in connection with Eve Tarmey's death, including Tarmey's mother, Jazzmyn Rood.
Investigators said Rood's boyfriend, Mark Ross, and another woman provided Tarmey with the drugs she eventually overdosed on in a Rochester motel last month.
"It is such a tragedy to see this type of case affect a juvenile in our community," Police Chief Michael Allen said. "We want to get out ahead of this issue and hopefully prevent a tragedy such as this from occurring in the future."
"Drugs are an issue in every community, in every school," Hopkins said. "I think we step in all the time and do everything we can."
Tarmey's family members said they were saddened by Thursday's arrests, saying, "For a parent to stand by while this is going and do nothing, nothing to help, it's never the child's fault."
