Road rage erupts into 'fist fight' in I-93 breakdown lane in Andover

ANDOVER, Mass. — An apparent fist fight between two men occurred in the breakdown lane of Interstate 93 south in Andover Monday night, sending one victim to an area hospital, according to the Massachusetts State Police.

Police got multiple calls about a "fist fight" involving two men in the breakdown lane of I-93 south in Andover around 5:20 p.m., according to a news release. By the time State Police troopers arrived, both men had left.

Tewksbury police later found a 36-year-old Billerica man at a gas station on Shawsheen Street with injuries; he was treated at the scene and then sent to a local hospital for further treatment, the statement said.

Police are now looking for the other man involved in the incident. He is described as a white male who was wearing a blue shirt, khaki cargo pants and construction boots at the time. Police believe he was driving a blue or black Mazda CX-5.

State Police are also reminding drivers that if someone is acting aggressively to you on the road that the best place to stay is inside your car, behind the wheel. Slowing down and moving away from the driver often helps defuse the situation.
