FALL RIVER, Mass. — A Fall River paraprofessional accused of choking a student appeared in court Friday as new paperwork described what witnesses saw.
FOX25 was the first station to report the incident when it happened in early March.
A school resource officer described the scene as she was called into the classroom and saw 62-year-old Stefan Michaud.
"Mr. Stefan Michaud straddled across the victim, with his hands encircling his neck. She described the student's faced as dark and red and noted the student was non-combative,” a prosecutor said.
The alleged victim was a 12-year-old with emotional and psychological needs, according to his mother.
"He then picked my son up off the floor, slammed his head to the cement. Hits his head off the floor and told him he will punch him in his face and choked him around his neck,” Nicole Brennan told FOX25 earlier this month.
Michaud was released on conditions to stay away from Talbot Middle School, stay away from the alleged victim and not to work with children under the age of 16 while the case is pending.
Brennan says she's satisfied with this outcome for now, but she wants to ensure he never works with children again; especially those with special needs.
Michaud left the courtroom without offering any comment on the allegations against him.
