TAUNTON, Mass. — A state review is not blaming a local hospital for releasing a mental health patient just hours before he killed two people during a rampage in Taunton.
The Boston Globe examined the report by state health officials. The report states a social worker at Morton Hospital evaluated Arthur DaRosa for more than two hours before concluding that he did not need to be admitted. An emergency room doctor also agreed with the decision to not admit him.
In May, DaRosa went to the ER because relatives said he was suicidal. DaRosa thought devils were trying to poison his children.
Thirteen hours after being released from Morton Hospital, DaRosa stabbed four people, killing two, during attacks at a Taunton home and the Silver City Galleria.

According to the report, "There is no evidence to suggest that inappropriate care was provided during the patient's encounter at Morton Hospital."
