Rapper Mac Miller dies at 26 of apparent drug overdose

Rapper Mac Miller has died at the age of 26 of an apparent drug overdose, TMZ reports.

According to TMZ, law enforcement officials found Miller at his home on Friday at around noon and was pronounced dead at the scene.

TMZ reports the emergency dispatch audio from the 911 call placed by one of Miller's friend reveals first responders were called in for a patient in cardiac arrest.

Miller had a history of substance abuse, the online tabloid reported. The musician's battle with drug addiction eventually lead to the downfall of his relationship with singer Ariana Grande.

After their breakup, Grande made it clear the couple was separating due to Miller's substance abuse throughout their 2-year relationship.

In 2012, Miller allegedly said, "I'd rather be the corny white rapper than the drugged-out mess who can't even get out of his house. Overdosing is just not cool. You don't go down in history because you overdose. You just die."

On a Thursday profile of Miller published by Vulture, among other things, the rapper said he had been under extreme pressure growing up under the spotlight.

Thursday night Mac posted video of a record player with his song, "So it Goes," playing in the background. The song includes lyrics, "Nine lives, never, die, f*** a heaven, I'm still gettin' high."

"A lot of times in my life I've put this pressure to hold myself to the standard of whatever I thought I was supposed to be, or how I was supposed to be perceived," Miller told Vulture. "And it creates pressure."

Back in May, the rapper was arrested for a DUI and hit-and-run after he crashed his car by wrapping it around a utility pole.

In his 2014 mixtape, "Faces," the rapper made mentions to substance abuse and referenced premature death.

He was set to start a tour next month.
