WRENTHAM, Mass. — Police are searching for a man they believe is breaking into people's cars and stealing Christmas presents.

Police say the suspect's name is Kevin Noonan and he has a record in Wrentham and other communities for committing similar crimes. Police were able to identify Noonan after a woman stopped him from stealing presents from her car, snapping a picture before he took off.

"When I had come out, the hatch was just closed. He had slammed it shut," said Sarah D'Alessandro.

Sarah was leaving work Wednesday just after dark when she saw a man getting out of her car.

"In that moment, there's like that fight or flight and I apparently was in the mood to fight," said D'Alessandro.

After telling her friend to call 911, D'Alessandro confronted the man.

"And then he jumped into his car very quickly and I don't know what I was thinking but I got in front of his car and I took a picture of him and his license plate and car and he ended up taking off," she said.

Inside her car were presents that the single mother of two was hiding from her 4 and 6-year-old.

"It's so upsetting because I was just sharing with a coworker that times are really tight right now and I was like finally relieved that Christmas shopping was over," said D'Alessandro.

The man tore through her center console, opened her wallet and dug through the presents, but she doesn't believe he was able to get away with much if anything at all.

Sarah's quick-thinking helped police identify the suspect as Kevin Noonan, who was driving a 2014 white Hyundai, Mass. plates 8BD286. Police say he is no stranger to local law enforcement.

"He's known in several communities, including this community as a suspect for other break-ins that occurred."

Police believe Noonan is connected to car break-ins in Norfolk and Walpole. The Walpole Police Chief tells Boston 25 News Noonan has been accused of breaking into vehicles there, but those cases are closed.

A warrant has been issued for him. Call Wrentham Police at (508)384-2121 if you have any information.
