BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Ann Romney was in Boston Tuesday pushing a new social media effort she hopes will get people talking about diseases she believes need more attention.
Romney sat down with our Sharman Sacchetti to talk about efforts to raise awareness and find cures for people facing multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, ALS, Parkinson's and brain tumors. She wants people to share their stories at their site, 50millionfaces.org or use that hashtag on Twitter.
Romney is a breast cancer survivor and also was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
"When I was diagnosed there was nothing like this, and it's a very frightening thing when you're diagnosed with a neurological disease," she said. "And there are people that are maybe at it longer, had more experience that can give people answers."
Romney tells Sacchetti she wants to be a "voice for people that don't have a voice," and wants to "be there to help" bring attention.
She went on to say, "What we want is to bring awareness and with awareness we want to bring cures."
Next year the Ann Romney Center for neurological diseases is expected to be completed at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Romney spoke at the World Medical Innovation Forum at the Boston hospital.
