BEVERLY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Beverly Police are searching for a man who fled from a traffic stop in Danvers on Thursday.
The incident happened just after 9:30 a.m. when a trooper stopped a car on Route 128 southbound at Route 62. The driver had an outstanding warrant, according to Massachusetts State Police, and the trooper took him into custody.
While the driver was being arrested, state police say the car's passenger got into the driver's side of the car and sped away, ultimately driving north on Route 128.
Massachusetts State Police Troop A patrols, along with MSP K-9 units and Air Wing, and local police are searching in Beverly for a suspect who fled from a motor vehicle stop earlier this morning.
Police chased the car through Danvers into Beverly, when it exited onto Brimball Avenue at Exit 19. Troopers called off the high-speed chase because of the population density of the area, according to state police.
At around 10 a.m., another trooper in the area found the car, now abandoned, on Herrick Street near Beverly Hospital.
State Police, Air Wing and K9 units were on scene searching for the suspect who had not been caught as of early Thursday afternoon.
