WASHINGTON, D.C. — Police are responding to two suspicious packages at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
One of the unattended packages were found on the west side of First Street at the corner of First Street and East Capitol Street. A second unattended package was found on the North Side Plaza of the Jefferson Building.

The north screening facility of the Capitol Visitor Center was closed as police investigated. The south screening facility remained open.
All staff and other personnel were directed to avoid the area. The situation was cleared just after 9:30 a.m.
