Police: Suspects on the run after 2 found shot in Fitchburg apartment

FITCHBURG, Mass. — Two people were found shot in a Fitchburg apartment Tuesday night, according to police.

A 28-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, but police said only the woman's injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

According to police, three men entered the second-floor apartment of a multi-family home on Brigham Park. Police did not say whether they were known to the residents or how they got into the apartment but said they were gone when officers arrived.

Police say the men were described as black males and they are still on the run.

Neighbors tell Boston 25 News the couple shot has children but didn't know if they were home at the time.

A large police presence was seen by Sky25 as it flew over the home Wednesday afternoon.

Fitchburg and Massachusetts State Police are investigating.

Neighbors say the violent incident is troubling because it is typically a quiet street.
