Police responded to 100 Cedar Street at around 5:15 p.m. on Friday after receiving calls from residents about a tree that had fallen onto a car.
First responders found MacDonald inside his Dodge Ram truck, trapped and crushed by a large pine tree that had fallen on the roof of the car.
MacDonald was declared dead at the scene.
The DA says MacDonald was the only person inside the truck at the time of the incident.
Plympton Police and State Police are investigating the incident, but suspect no foul play.
Fallen trees closed off multiple roads around Plympton, and some even toppled over on power lines. Many residents are still in the dark, with no prediction as to when the power may come back on.
"It’s surreal, it’s crazy I mean I was out driving yesterday I probably shouldn’t have been, I was trying to round up things to get ready for the storm, but even then it’s no joke," said Mike Lemieux, a Plympton resident. "It's unlike anything I've ever seen."
Lemieux said his wife had a close encounter with a falling tree, but wasn't injured.
"My wife [...] she almost got hit by one just about that size, just trying to get hay for the horses, and I didn’t really realize how bad it was until I came outside," said Lemieux. "With weather cycles and patterns getting worse by the year you just have to be mindful as much as you can but you can’t see that coming."
