CHELSEA, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A large truck has crashed into a Dunkin' Donuts in Chelsea.

The incident happened Monday afternoon on Beacham Street. The truck was carrying a dumpster filled with debris of some sort. Firefighters say the driver was not traveling at a high rate of speed.

"We arrived on scene, the truck had struck a parked car that was in front of Dunkin Donuts and then hit the building," Chelsea Deputy Fire Chief John Quatieri said.

It is believed that the driver suffered some kind of medical issue at the time of the crash.

"The driver was unconscious on the ground next to the truck when we pulled up," Quatieri said.

By the time the driver was taken to Mass. General Hospital he had regained consciousness.

In addition to the structural damage to the building, crews had to contain a diesel spill as well.

"He hit the wall in front of the store and he tore open the saddle tank under his the truck. So we had a diesel leak, he lost about 25 gallons of diesel fuel out in the street prior to us containing it," Quatieri said.

The Dunkin Donuts will remain closed pending a structural inspection.
