DEDHAM, Mass. — Tuesday afternoon a 13 year old was hit and killed by a Commuter Rail line on the tracks near Endicott Station in Dedham.
Passengers on the train said at first it wasn't really clear what had happened.
“We heard a noise and then the train just slowed down to a stop and the conductor said there's a medical emergency,” Marissa Pendergast said.
From her window seat, Pendergast was able to see the conductor check under the train.
"She was crying. She took off her hat. She just looked all distressed," Pendergast said.
The District Attorney identified the teen who was killed as Eric Plathe of Dedham.
It's unclear what he was doing on the tracks, but police said the death appears to be accidental.
Hundreds of passengers had to remain on the train for two hours while police investigated the scene.
"I didn't mind waiting. I just there was a better outcome than what happened," Pendergast said.
