Penn. charges against Cosby could help Massachusetts case

BOSTON — Many of the women who claim to have been sexually assaulted by Cosby said the charges are something they've waited for for decades, especially since the entertainer has consistently and publicly refuted their allegations.

“It’s huge. It's big. And it's important,” said Joseph Cammarata, an attorney representing seven women who filed a federal lawsuit against Cosby in Massachusetts.

He said that the charges in Pennsylvania serve to provide evidence to support their civil case.

FOX25’s Crystal Haynes talked with one of the alleged victims last summer.

“Next thing I know, I was in bed with Mr. Cosby, partially clothed, I believe I can't remember that well and he was trying to force me into oral sex,” said Kristina Ruehli, from Windham New Hampshire.

She claims Cosby drugged and assaulted her in 1965; she is one of the original 13 women who came forward with allegations against Cosby. Due to developments in her own suit against the entertainer, she could not comment on his arrest.

She did say that it is a significant day for her.

“This is a matter of his own making. And it's now time for Mr. Cosby to face the music,” said Cammarata.

There are been lots of developments in court involving Cosby here in Massachusetts, including a counter claim by Cosby against his accusers.
