The 39-year-old victim was taken to South Shore Hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were also taken to South Shore Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the man, 51-year-old Thomas Mohan from Weymouth, has been charged with OUI and negligent operation causing bodily injury.

“He's going through a very rough time. But that's no excuse for hurting other people at all,” Claire Mohan, Thomas' mother, said.

Police say Thomas Mohan was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
