PEABODY, Mass. - A man who robbed a Bank of America in Peabody had an unusual getaway car - a taxi.
Police said the robbery occurred around 2:19 p.m. at the Bank of America branch across the street from Northshore Mall.
The man was identified as 31-year-old Leo Willwerth, who claimed to be a resident of East Boston.
He was arrested by Peabody Police, and will be arraigned in court on Tuesday.
Officials learned Willwerth had made a reference to a bomb before taking an undisclosed amount of cash and running toward the mall.
Witnesses say they saw Willwerth enter a taxi with a woman inside, who was not the driver.
State Police said they pulled the car over in the area of Route 93 and Melnea Cas Boulevard in Boston.
At this point, it's unknown if the taxi driver knew the suspect had just robbed a bank.
Authorities are unsure if the woman was involved in the robbery in any way.
