“The fifth Super Bowl? It's unheard of. Nine for this franchise? It's ridiculous,” said 98.5 the Sports Hub’s Jim Murray.
Murray and Hardy are part of the Patriots content team hitting the road, making stops for Patriots connections all along the route. It’s a luxury bus for a five-day, 16-state journey to Houston.
“We're going to meet with fan clubs. We're going to meet with former players. We're actually going to a few former players' residences. Yeah, they're going to invite us into their homes. We're going to spend some time with a couple of Pats players. I'm excited about that as a Pats fan,” said Hardy.
They know the welcome wagon won’t be so welcoming in some cities though.
"I don't know if the response is going to be great everywhere we go, especially in new york. Definitely in Atlanta,” said Murray.
They aren’t afraid of "poking the bear,” so they say.
“I think rolling past NFL Headquarters should be interesting," said Hardy.
The team aboard the Drive for 5 bus remains undeterred and ready to roll with the adventure.
“I think the best stuff is the stuff we can't plan for. The stuff where we have no idea what's going to happen. So what can I say? What can you expect? The unexpected,” said Hardy.
The Patriots content team will be updating their progress on social media, using the #Drivefor5 hashtag.
