NORWOOD, Mass. — A Norwood police officer was shocked at what he saw while stuck in traffic on Route 128 Thursday evening.
Deputy Police Chief Peter Kelly Jr. posted on Twitter he saw a driver with his head buried in his phone. Kelly said he rolled down his window to caution the driver not to text behind the wheel.
I was stuck in traffic this evening on 128 and saw a driver with his head buried in his cell phone. I rolled down the window to caution him not to text while driving. He held up his phone and replied “I’m reading not texting”....is it me? #distracteddriving

To Kelly’s surprise, the driver held up his phone and replied, “I’m reading, not texting.”
Kelly wants to remind drivers that reading behind the wheel is also considered distracted driving.
