N.H. man charged with attempted murder in Lunenburg officer-involved shooting

LUNENBURG, Mass. — A 31-year-old New Hampshire man has been charged with attempted murder after he pulled a gun and fired at officers.

The Worcester District Attorney tells Boston 25 News Lunenburg police were called to the scene on Route 13 after a report of a suspicious man.

That's when police say Brian Binder of New Hampshire pulled out a gun and fired two shots at the two responding officers.

"Shots fired! Shots fired on Chase Road," an officer can be heard saying in the radio calls obtained by Boston 25.

Binder started to run after firing the shots. Officers shot back, hitting Binder in the hand.

He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Neither officer was injured.

Kelly Boucher woke up to a crime scene outside her front door.

"Detectives were at the door asking us if we heard anything because there was as shooting next door and we heard nothing," Bucher said. "I feel bad for the officer. I hope they're alright."

Brian Binder has a long criminal history with more than 20 cases in New Hampshire and previously had problems in Nevada.

In one New Hampshire case, he pleaded guilty to kidnapping three women at knifepoint and tormenting them.
