NH burglar falls asleep during robbery

MANCHESTER, NH (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A New Hampshire man is in jail Tuesday night on charges he broke into a couple's home and fell asleep during the burglary.

Police arrested Renaud "Junior" Plaisir Tuesday morning after they said he slit a screen at a home and snuck inside while the couple who lives there slept upstairs.

"He must have been here several minutes, all the drawers were open, and upstairs it was the same thing," said Elinor Terrell.

Terrell said her husband woke up after six o'clock and walked out into the hallway only to notice a strange pair of shoes outside the guest bedroom door.

Police said when John Terrell peeked inside, he saw Plaisir fast asleep in the bed, with a knife tucked in his back pocket.

"John woke me up and said there is a guy asleep in the blue bedroom," Terrell told FOX25. "And I said, are you sure? And he said, 'here are his sneakers!'"

Terrell ran downstairs to call police while she said her husband woke Plaisir and held him at gunpoint until officers arrived.

Terrell said it appears Plaisir systematically went through the entire house, opening cabinets, going through her husband's office and briefcase, and even eating leftover chicken wings in her refrigerator.

Police said Plaisir had a backpack with him that contained stolen goods that could be from other burglaries, including credit cards and jewelry.

"I guess we were his last hit of the night and I guess he was tired, and he laid down and went to sleep," Terrell said.

Plaisir was arraigned Tuesday on burglary charges and is in jail on a $25,000 bond.
