BOSTON – It's been more than 18 months since two police officers were shot in East Boston, but we are now getting our first look inside the apartment where the violence took place.
Police were called to 136 Gladstone St. on Oct. 11, 2016 to settle a dispute between 33-year-old Kirk Figueroa and his roommate.
Figueroa, a self-described bounty hunter, shot and seriously wounded the two veteran officers.

Newly released pictures show the bullet holes, blood and spent shell casings in the basement. Audio recordings of dispatch communications also convey the stress of the situation.
When officer Richard Cintolo went to frisk Figueroa, “A struggle ensued during which the 6-foot 1-inch, 250-pound Figueroa freed himself, drew his gun, and fired at the officers.”
Figueroa shot Officer Cintolo in the face, arm and chest. He then turned his 9mm handgun on Officer Matt Morris shooting him in the leg and severing his femoral artery.

You can hear the gun shots in the police radio transmissions.
According to the DA’s report, Figueroa “retreated to a darkened bedroom on the opposite side of the kitchen. During the exchange of gunfire, Mr. Figueroa positioned himself behind the bedroom wall and fired through the partially open door.”
The report says Figueroa’s bullet proof vest stopped 18 rounds from hitting him in the torso. Officers eventually killed him with shots to the head and side
Police found a second 9mm handgun, a tactical shotgun, and dozens of rounds of ammo in Figueroa’s room.
Figueroa was a licensed City of Boston constable and he was wearing his badge at his waist.
