EPPING, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A two-year-old child has died after being found in a pool Monday morning.
The child's family called police Monday morning just before 9 a.m. and reported their son missing when they thought he had wandered off into the woods.
He was missing for about 10 minutes when police arrived at the home on Hedding Road in Epping, N.H. They found the boy floating in an above ground pool behind the home.
Police said the boy was unresponsive when they found him, but had a pulse. First responders performed CPR, and then he was taken to Exeter Hospital, where he later died.
The boy was reportedly at home with his mother, her boyfriend and a baby when the incident happened. Police say the family was preparing the pool for summer, and had a fence around it with a latch, but somehow the boy got inside.
"There was a small crack between the gate of the pool and the fencing going around the pool," an Epping police officer said.
The incident remains under investigation.
