New Balance opens new Boston headquarters

BOSTON (AP) - New Balance employees are moving into the sneaker and apparel company's new global headquarters.

Company CEO Rob DeMartini says the roughly 600 corporate office workers have been settling into the 250,000-square-foot space along the Massachusetts Turnpike over the last 10 days.

DeMartini and other company officials gave the media a tour of the space Thursday as construction crews were putting finishing touches on the building.

The gleaming new headquarters is part of an ambitious, 15-acre development that includes a new training facility for NHL's Boston Bruins, a track and field complex, a 175-room boutique hotel, office, retail, residential and restaurant space and a new commuter rail station.

New Balance has five factories in New England, employs more than 5,000 workers and reported sales of $3.3 billion in 2014.
