Neighbors angry over Beverly couple's attempt to go green

A North Beverly couple's attempts to go green with a solar panel installation has a several neighbors angry.

Lola and Richard Eanes put in a solar panel about a year ago. Their electric bills are extremely low, if anything at all, but the people who live around them aren't happy about it.

"It's a travesty that it happened. And the way the city did it is absolutely abysmal," said Ted Downing.

He feels the city should have had a meeting with neighbors before allowing the Eanes to install it.

Neighbors say they support solar energy. Just not like this.

"We're all for solar power, we're all for saving energy. We love embracing all of that. Just this location... it affects these four houses that surround it," said Downing.

There's now a proposal to the city council to introduce zoning that would limit where people can put solar panels on their property, but at this point, it's still up for consideration.

The city council will consider that new zoning rule when they meet again at the beginning of next year.
