DOVER, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) - The Attorney General's Office in New Hampshire is investigating a shooting at a Dover hospital that left two people dead in an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday morning.
According to state officials, a man walked into the critical care unit at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital just after 6 a.m., killed his wife, and then killed himself.
The victim's identity was not officially released but neighbors identified the couple as Mark and Kathy Lavoie of Dover.
A source for New Hampshire One said that the woman was mentally ill.
Mark Lavoie posted a Facebook note early Tuesday to family and friends. In it, he says: "I want to start off by saying this is going to be officially ruled a murder/suicide when in all actuality it is a double suicide."
He goes on to say his wife suffered from mental illness and outlines funeral requests.
Several cars were parked outside the couple's Dover home Tuesday afternoon as family members gathered inside. Neighbors only saying the two lived on this quiet street for several years but mostly kept to themselves.
