Motorcycle collides with truck in Middleborough; leaves one person dead

MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. — A crash involving a motorcycle and a delivery truck along Route 18 in Middleborough left one person dead on Saturday afternoon.

Middleborough Police received several 911 calls reporting a crash on Bedford Street at around 1 p.m.

Initial investigation showed a Peapod truck had collided with a 2017 Harley Davidson as the truck pulled out of a driveway at 190 Bedford Street.

Michael Garner, 24, of Middleborough, was operating the Harley Davidson motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bedford Street was closed down for 3 and a half hours while police conducted their investigation on the accident.

A spokesperson with Peapod issued the following statement:

Earlier today, there was a fatal accident involving a Peapod truck. At this time we are cooperating fully with local officials as they investigate this incident and cannot comment further.  We offer our deepest sympathy to the victim's family and loved ones.

The Massachusetts State Police crime scene services unit also assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
